ZIM & ZOU
Zim&Zou are two french artists, based in Nancy. The duo is composed of Lucie THOMAS, born in the Vosges in 1987, and Thibault ZIMMERMANN, born in Paris in 1986. They studied graphic design (design, publishing, advertising) during three years. They decided to focus on installations using handcrafted objects made out of tangible materials such as paper, wood, thread, etc… rolling away from computer design. Anchored in craftsmanship, they create all the elements composing their installations by hand, from drawing to cutting and assembling. Their favorite material is the paper they’re cutting, folding and gluing to give rise to intricate and colorful sculptures. Paper inspires them for its versatility, infinite range of colors and unique textures. The flat sheets turned into volume are giving an installation the poetry of ephemeral material. Zim&Zou’s strength is to be a complementary and polyvalent duo.

Esta exposición reúne sesenta fotografías de moda de inspiración pictórica, procedentes de los archivos de Vogue, realizadas por grandes fotógrafos de las últimas tres décadas.
La pintura española del Siglo de Oro, el retrato holandés, los cuadros del periodo victoriano y los Prerrafaelitas, o las diferentes escuelas presentes en las colecciones reales europeas, han servido de modelo a fotógrafos que, a través de sus producciones centradas en la belleza femenina, han forjado la imagen de la revista Vogue a lo largo de los años, y también han sido ejemplo para muchos artistas contemporáneos. Los ecos de la obra de Constable, Zuloaga o Sorolla, entre otros, están presentes en las piezas de esta muestra que reúne a nombres de la fotografía clásica con talentos de las nuevas generaciones como: Irving Penn, Annie Leibovitz, Tim Walker, Paolo Roversi, Steven Klein, David Sims, Erwin Olaf, Michael Thompson, Mario Testino o Peter Lindbergh, entre muchos otros.

Humans have produced clothing for as far back as archeologists can trace, but the modern fashion industry, with its labels, magazines, and the imperative of style, emerged in the late 18th century, primarily as haute couture (“high fashion”). In the 20th century, enabled by the rise of consumer culture and technologies of mass production like the sewing machine, factory-made prêt-à-porter (“ready to wear”) brought fashion into everyday life. Due to the reliance of fashion on commerce and its predominant association with women, its status as an art form worthy of serious scholarly attention has long been debated by art historians.
